The problem with the existing robot designs is that they seem to be made for specific purposes that you are not aware of.
They could become useful when you become more familiar with the game.
At this point it makes more sense to design a very simple robot and start exploring the world already.
And get more specialised robots when you have an idea what you want to achieve in this environment.
