knows about Unglish grammar and vocabulary. She hasn't used that language for a while and now needs to explain complicated things to those strangers. Of course her pronunciation has become rusty, and she must dig out every word from her memory.
knew nothing about Unglish. She spent half a night speaking to one of the Cueganites, trying to grasp the basics of that language. With a very limited vocabulary and virtually no knowledge about Unglish grammar, her descriptions of complex concepts are just wild guesses, combined with body language.
On the other hand she just learned everything from a native speaker, so her pronunciation is mostly correct, except for phonemes which aren't present in her own language, and for some subtleties in the tone.)
